Hello, my name is Christiane (Kae) Karam and I believe in the healing power of Art. At Art for the Heart, everyone is an artist and no one is ever too busy to put a smile on someone's face!! We love to get together and make beautiful things happen. Sometimes we sing, sometimes we hum, sometimes we dance, we never quite know where the artmaking session is going to go. Sometimes we know each other before we start and sometimes we meet in the circle and by the end of the piece we are good friends!! One thing we know for sure is that its ALWAYS fun, and ALWAYS creates beauty :)

I am calling what we do Circlepainting,  a collective and spontaeous form of art-making based on what moves us when we gather in a circle to paint and draw. It is an extrapolation that I drew from years of Circlesinging, a similar process which entails spontaneous singing and music-making through the joining of voices in a circle. It is the message we want to convey, and all the intention, joy and compassion that goes with it, translated in color. All the proceeds from our Circlepainting sessions go to a cause dear to the hearts of the art makers, and in the case of the collection below, to the OneFund for the Boston Marathon Victims and their families. Many of these were made by my Berklee College of Music students, as well as others in the community.

Join us for a 'Circlepainting' session and marvel at the beauty and joy that will unravel with every stroke or dash of color. The happiness is instant and the giggles will carry you through the day!!

The events are listed on the Calendar page, and you can sign up there as well. Leave your Comments on the Guestbook page and I will get back to you as soon as I can! There will be a blog as well with an opportunity to share ideas and interact.

Please take the time to order a print (or 2 or 10!!) from the  Gallery page, it won't cost you much and will brighten your space and someone else's day!!!

See you soon at a circlepainting session near you :)

Warmly,
Christiane

ps- we are actively looking for another name for our artform, since I just found out 'Circlepainting' is already in use by a community art organization with similar goals. Please write with any ideas you might have!! :)
